With a busy life who has time to play? I’m busy working hard so that I can retire early, then I will have lots of time to play. Finding balance in a round busy world – is it possible?

I remember back in the day visiting my grandparents during the summer holidays; one of my favourite pastimes was to take the canoe out, paddle out a ways then just sit there. The water was calm and provided a sense of peacefulness, and I took advantage of the tranquil moment.  That is, until a speed boat flew, yes, flew by and rocked my present world, providing a sense of imbalance that un-nerved me. I was more concerned about the unsteadiness of the canoe than my interrupted Zen moment. Why? I was without a life jacket and I didn’t know how to swim. Yeah, bright wasn’t I?

I find it’s a good metaphor to describe the way life is at times, we don’t purposefully do things to get our lives off-balance; it just happens; which leads me to the question “is it possible to find balance in this round busy world?” We’re encouraged to find balance from various sources when our immediate lives are disrupted. The benefits of creating and following a plan

On more than one occasion I’ve gone ahead and done things without planning, and it worked out just fine, then there are times they flop, plain and simple. I never stopped to figure out why and what the advantage and dis-advantages planning ahead provides. Well, that is until a few weeks ago when I found myself stuck, discouraged and frustrated over the minimal progress I was seeing in losing some unwanted body fat. Being a personal trainer and having successfully lost over 60 pounds and kept it off, you think I should know and do better.
